Many of us are here to enjoy the great game and outdoors, others want to walk away with some form of reward or prize, or maybe you just need to get away from your normal routine. Fortunately, everyone is welcome here at Schoemies!
To provide the environment and quality of the course is no mean feat. First of all, you need money, and lots of it, and then you need the people. I regard the greenkeeper as one of the most important keys to assist in giving players the joy they seek from golf. I salute Reinhard for his determination and knowledge in the rebirth of our beloved course!
Many changes often go unseen, but constant improvements enhance our vision in becoming one of the best in the Free State.
After the unfortunate breach of our privacy by means of unlawful entry, we have employed a permanent night watchman. Incidents on the course are hard to police, and members are urged to take special care of their valuables when playing.
The kitchen is full of surprises, and the pizzas top the list of favourites. Remember, you can call the club and place your food order close to reaching the halfway mark.
The Rosefees was well attended, and as promised, virtually everyone got a prize. The staff, as always, were outstanding in the weeks of preparation. Thank you all!
The Fitchat cup has delivered, I think for the first time, a female in the name of Mia Rossouw, who battled with the defending champ Fritz Botes. Well done, Mia!
The Stella matchplay is drawing to a conclusion and will, by popular demand, remain a fixture on our calendar.
It is important that we all adhere to rules and regulations protecting our course, as we all need to be proud of being a member here. We are here to play the game in the spirit it was designed for, and understand that our actions affect all players.
The first green is responding well to reseeding, and we aim to be ready by January. Fortunately, no three putts have been recorded here for some time…ha ha ha.
